The Baldock Horticultural Society recently enjoyed a delightful evening outing to the historic Warden Abbey Vineyard on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024. The event, which began at 6:30 PM, offered members a unique opportunity to explore one of the region’s most picturesque and storied vineyards.
The evening commenced with an informative tour, where attendees were captivated by the rich history of Warden Abbey Vineyard. The knowledgeable guides shared fascinating tales of the vineyard’s origins, dating back to medieval times, and explained the meticulous process of cultivating vines and producing their exquisite wines.
As the tour progressed, members of the society gained valuable insights into the techniques used in vine cultivation. The guides detailed the vineyard's seasonal care, the challenges viticulturists faced, and the journey from grape to bottle. The serene surroundings and lush green vines provided a perfect backdrop for the educational experience.
Following the hour-long tour, attendees were invited to sample a selection of the vineyard’s finest wines.
